The U.S. Department of Homeland Security released the federal fiscal year 2025 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) on July 28, 2025. State Administrative Agencies (SAA) have until August 11, 2025, to submit their application materials to obtain allocated funds. Each State will then open the application period for eligible nonprofit organizations to apply for this competitive grant.
Why It Matters
The Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) provides funding to organizations at high risk of terrorist attacks. Many nonprofit organizations find themselves targeted based on their mission, services they provide, faith-based affiliations, and other social, ideological, or political reasons.
Nonprofit organizations often lack resources for enhanced security measures to properly secure their facilities. Eligible nonprofit organizations can utilize this funding for the purchase and installation of security equipment on property owned or leased by the nonprofit organization including:
surveillance camera, access control, window film, lighting, fencing, bollards, and other target hardening measures. Applicants may also pursue investments in the areas of training and planning.
Each eligible nonprofit organization must submit a Risk and Vulnerability Assessment and Investment Justification specific to the location/facility for which the nonprofit organization is applying.
