Kevin Craig, Vice President of Safety, Security, and Investigations at PorzioCS, has been appointed to the Standards & Certifications Committee of the National Council of School Safety Directors (NCSSD). The NCSSD is a membership organization dedicated to advancing professional standards and certification programs for school safety directors nationwide.

With more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement, emergency management, and school security, Craig is a widely recognized subject-matter expert in these areas. A retired New Jersey Police Chief, he holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a concentration in School Security and Safety Administration and is credentialed as a Licensed Private Detective, Public Manager, Police Instructor, School Safety Specialist, and School Resource Officer in New Jersey.

Craig has been a driving force behind statewide school safety initiatives. He has represented the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police on the NJ K-12 Task Force and served on the Governor-appointed NJ School Security Task Force. At PorzioCS, he helps lead the firm’s Safety and Security services, which provide schools, businesses, and faith-based organizations with expert support in school safety planning, threat assessments, OSINT, and emergency preparedness.

“Serving on the NCSSD Standards and Certifications Committee is an opportunity to further support school leaders and shape best practices in school safety,” said Craig. “I look forward to helping define standards that strengthen security frameworks for students and institutions alike.”

Most recently, Craig contributed to the development of a new ASIS International standard on conducting effective internal and external investigations and the first of its kind school security standard further underscoring his leadership in advancing practical, ethical security protocols and training.

The Standards & Certifications Committee will play a critical role in defining best practices, formalizing credentialing processes, and setting professional benchmarks for school safety directors—a vital step in strengthening safety across educational environments.
