Dr. Christina L. Van Woert is a veteran educational leader with over 20 years of experience focused on curriculum development, compliance planning, and school improvement. As Superintendent of Schools and Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Chester Board of Education, she led district-wide efforts to enhance instructional practices and student support services. Her leadership contributed to multiple high-performance designations under NJQSAC (New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum) and the district's recognition as a Future Ready School District by the NJDOE.
Christina's expertise extends to overseeing Title I, II, III, and IV programs, as well as compliance with the ESEA, Professional Development Plan, Mentoring Plan, School Safety Plan, Violence and Vandalism/HIB Reports, and ASSA. She has successfully guided schools through these compliance efforts, helping them achieve excellence in meeting state standards and improving educational outcomes. Additionally, Christina has worked closely with the Morris County Prosecutor's Office through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to ensure safe learning environments, as well as contributing to the completion of the State of New Jersey District Report Card.
Her grant writing skills have secured more than $275,000 in funding to support initiatives focused on diverse learners and technology literacy. Christina has also contributed to the professional growth of emerging school leaders across New Jersey through the design and delivery of training programs aimed at improving leadership skills and fostering technology integration.
Christina has previously served New Jersey's education community in key advisory roles, including as a member of the New Jersey Department of Education LEAD Group on Short-Term Issues—at the request of the Commissioner of Education—and on the NJASA Governmental Affairs Committee, where she provided policy insight for the New Jersey Association of School Administrators. She continues to maintain strong connections within the state's education community as a result of these appointments.
Recognized for her commitment to educational equity and excellence, Christina was honored with the 2021 NJASA Morris County Superintendent of the Year and the 2022 Morris County Education Association Friend of Education Award.
